A concerned netizen writes a letter to the city government of Manila
Manila is truly a lovable city. As the city center of the Philippines, Manila is a dense stew of urban development and historic sentiment.
Manila is also the home to extensive commerce and seats the executive and judicial branches of the national government. It is the reason why people from the countryside move to Manila. They would like to live in a city that offers many job opportunities.
Pollution is the most common outcome of overpopulation.
A netizen named Judy Go uploaded and shared pictures of a canal in Manila full of trash. She uploaded the pictures on Facebook, hoping that it would call out the city government's attention.
"Estero of Manila. Calling the government and the Manilenos: Please keep your environment clean.
Improper waste disposal can inflict a lot of damage on the environment. They can contaminate the soil and the air around them, and release chemicals that can build up in the ozone layer or contribute to climate change and global warming.
If they are left in the water, it can threaten marine life and other animals that come into contact with it.
And all these can be stopped by properly disposing that plastic bag or that candy wrapper.
It may sound like it won’t do anything, but if thousands of Filipinos just hold on to their trash until they find a trash can, it will help a lot."
Share this article so it may reach the government's attention.
