Medical students mistook baby's penis for umbilical cord. Accidentally cut it. !!

Practicing medical students accidentally slice a newborn baby's penis after they mistakenly thought of it as the baby's umbilical cord.
A penis and an umbilical cord is hugely different when compared to each other. Any would quite tell the difference between them, more so if you have spent years studying medicine. This case proves that the length of time one spent studying does not equate to common sense.

A newborn baby boy in Saltillo, Mexico has his penis cut off by medical students who thought his genital to be his umbilical cord. And to make matters worse, they tried to cover up the incident from the parents by rushing the baby to surgery immediately.
Diego Rangel Izaguirre, the father of the child, was suspicious when the staff denied him access to the child two hours after birth. He was told that the baby had a 'minor accident' but he discovered the truth. He was furious.

[When my child was born and they cut his umbilical cord they injured his penis. And unfortunately when the surgeon started sewing it, he made other two new injuries, almost two centimetres deep.]
The doctors managed to sew the boy's penis back together but his mother, Zulem Contreras, was still fuming and pointed out that the baby should have been left in the care of professionals and not students.

The hospital claimed that the parents had consented to the 'minor' operation. Said hospital also launched an internal investigation. Mexican officials released a statement in support of the hospital saying that the foreskin was injured while cutting the umbilical cord and was corrected with the usual procedure of circumcision to the minor.

The first instance was an accident but the succeeding malpractice only shows incompetence, both medical students and experienced practitioners. We hope the 'minor' operation the boy went through won't have complications later. As to the medical students, they should have been careful. A little mistake can mean a life and death situation. !!!
